The Windermere is a 19 bedroom hotel, located in central London. All rooms are en suite (shower room or bathroom). The Windermere Brasserie serves breakfast and dinner (also open to non-residents). Our hotel comprises of 2 Victorian buildings built c.1857. There are 2 sets of staircases, and elevator in the middle of the property, which travels to all floors.

The hotel is located on Warwick Way, at the corners of Alderney Street and Winchester Street. The area is fairly flat, and there are no hills or steep approaches with the exception of some of the bridges e.g. Ebury Bridge which is located at the end of Warwick way (travelling west). The Windermere is easily accessible and is close to transport routes such as buses, coaches, trains and the Underground. Parking is available nearby.

• Taxis are available at the station.

• The hotel is 5-10 minutes walk from the station.

• Other bus stops in the area: Sutherland Street/Ebury Bridge (3 mins walk) – no. C10; Wilton Road (5 mins walk) – no. 24; Pimlico Road (5 mins walk) – nos. 11 & C1; (all buses run frequently according to the Transport for London timetable).

• We are able to book you a private transfer/taxi on request.

• The streets surrounding the hotel are paved.

• A public car park is located in Winchester Street (adjacent to the hotel). Reservations are not necessary as we are located in a residential area. The car park is a secure 24-hour underground car park (2 levels, no stairs). The car park is well lit, and street lighting illuminates the entrance/exit. There is a downward ramp to get into the car park from street level.

• Limited parking is also available on the streets around the hotel.

N.B. parking restrictions apply (Monday-Friday). The streets are lit by the council (as above) during hours of darkness, whereas natural daylight is relied upon during the day.

• Passengers can be dropped off in front of the building (there is a partial single yellow line: NB. parking restrictions). There is a kerb and the pavement is evenly paved.

• There are 2 marble steps from the street to our porch. There is no handrail.

• There is 1 more step from the porch into the building at the door. There is no handrail.

• A ramp is available on request.

• Entry to the hotel is by a bell at the front door, which we then open electronically. Once the bell is rung, you will hear a ringing sound (similar to that of a telephone) followed by a click sound (once the door has been electronically opened). Then push the door to open. Mind the step over the threshold.

• The floor at the entrance has 2 differing textures (2 metres of matting at the door which is rough, and then marble flooring into the reception area, and carpet into the hallway).

• Luggage may be left at the entrance if assistance is required, whereby a member of staff will take care of it.

• The threshold into the main welcome area (reception area) from the door is uneven, with a small step of a gradual longitudinal increase from 0.5cm – 3.5cm (left to right / front door side to hallway side).

• The flooring in the reception area is marble. There are no additional rugs or mats in the public areas.

• There are some comfortable heavy chairs available for seating, as well as some other small items of furniture e.g. 2 small round coffee tables (as of December 2011).

• The reception desk is a tall wooden unit, with a marble top.

• The room is well lit (natural lighting: 2 large windows & 1 chandelier from the ceiling as well as a table lamp).

• Guests are escorted to the room on arrival and shown around the hotel. Room features and amenities are also shown on arrival.

• A loop system is not available, pen & paper is available.

• Our reception is open 24/7 and a member of staff is always available for assistance.

• 3 rooms are located on the ground floor. Only 1 has a walk-in shower (small step into the shower basin). The room has 1 king size bed, which can also be set up as 2 single beds. Some furniture can be moved on request. Ceiling lights and table lamps provide the lighting. Access is step free (except for hotel’s main entrance).

• The width of the main door to the room is approximately 72cm. The bathroom door is approx. 52cm wide, the toilet height is approx. 40cm and the washbasin height is approx. 74cm.

• Other rooms are available on other floors; please discuss any special requests with the reservations team prior to booking. Requests will be fulfilled subject to availability. We have a range of rooms available with flexible bed configurations, and different styles of bathrooms. Some rooms require access by a few steps.

• All bedrooms have a flat screen TV. Subtitles are available.

• All rooms have an en suite shower room (shower & WC) or bathroom (bathtub with shower & WC).

• Ground floor room with en suite shower room: The bathroom door is approx. 52cm wide, the toilet height is approx. 40cm and the washbasin height is approx. 74cm.

• Bathroom floors are tiled, and surfaces are marbled. All rooms vary is decoration, but are well lit and ventilated. Some bathrooms have a telephone inside, but there are no emergency bells. Taps are mixer taps.

• All public areas are well lit with both natural lighting (windows) where available, and electrical lighting (ceiling). Some corridors have motion sensors whereby the lights are turned on once you enter the area.

• Flooring is carpeted.

• The elevator travels to all floors, but there are some steps for some rooms. A handrail is provided.

• Public seating is available either in the bar area (lower ground floor) which is accessible by elevator or staircase (17 steps from the ground floor/reception level) with a handrail. Tub chairs or dining chairs are available at round or square tables. The floor in the restaurant/bar is carpeted, as well as the staircases and corridors leading up to it. The room is lit by natural light through windows, ceiling spotlights and wall lights. The TV in the bar area can have subtitles.

• Seating is also available at the reception area in the form of one 2-seater leather sofa and one 1-seater leather armchair. Small side tables are located on either side of the chairs. The floor is marbled. The room is lit by a combination of natural lighting, a ceiling light and table lamps.

• The Ladies’ toilet is situated on the 1st landing. There are 8 steps (with handrail), from the ground floor. The toilet is small, with one washbasin, and one toilet. There is one ceiling light and one window. The floor is tiled. The toilet door opens inwards. Width of opening is approx. 66cm.

• The Mens’ toilet is situated on the 2nd landing. There are 8 steps (with handrail), after the elevator. The toilet is small, with one washbasin, and one toilet. There is one ceiling light and one window. The floor is tiled. The toilet door opens inwards. Width of opening is approx. 66cm.

• The restaurant is located on the lower ground floor and is accessible either by a staircase (17 steps from the ground floor, with a handrail), or by elevator step-free/level entry (through 1 door).

• The flooring in the Brasserie is marble. The flooring in the lounge area is carpeted.

• Lighting is a combination of natural (windows), spotlights (ceiling) and wall lights.

• The dining room chairs are upright leather chairs (chairs with arms are also available).
